This body of work is a visual response to the poetry of Adrienne Rich, a collection born from the deep waters of emotion, resilience, and radical self-truth. The paintings explore the terrain of depression, disability, and the quiet power of persistence. Each painting is a reckoning with grief, curiosity, and with the refusal to numb or turn away. Rich’s words gave me permission to feel fully, to sink when I needed to, and to rise when I could. These artworks reflect the cycles of descent and emergence, the beauty in emotional honesty, and the strength it takes to swim back to the surface once again.
